Air Fryer Radishes
Air fryer radishes are so easy to make and the perfect side dish. Ready in about 20 minutes, these air fried radishes are a great replacement for potatoes on a low carb diet but can be enjoyed by anyone! Great for snacking too with your favorite dip!
Why you will love this recipe
Quick and easy – this recipe is so easy to make, and the air fryer makes it so quick! Roasting radishes changes the flavors and really helps to mellow them out (they almost taste like potatoes after roasting). Typically, roasting radishes in the oven takes 40 minutes or longer. You can get the same results in the air fryer in under 20 minutes!
Simple ingredients – you can find all the ingredients to make air fryer radishes at your local grocery store. No specialty items needed! You can easily change up the flavors too depending on what you are serving along side of the air fried radishes.
Great for low carb or Whole30 lifestyle – these air fryer radishes are a fantastic side dish no matter what you are making! With super clean ingredients, this recipe is vegan, gluten free, dairy free, low carb, paleo and Whole30 friendly.
Ingredients
- Radishes – you can find radishes in a one-pound bag in most grocery stores (I actually get them at Aldi). You can use the red(pink) radishes or a combination of the rainbow radishes (white, red, pink).
- Olive oil – olive oil helps to coat the radish and helps the spices stick to the radishes in the air fryer. You could also use avocado oil, melted coconut oil or melted butter or ghee.
- Spices: salt, dried thyme and garlic powder – salt helps to enhance the flavor of the radishes when roasted. The dried thyme and garlic powder pairs so well with the flavor of the radishes but it’s not required for the dish. See below for more ideas on how to flavor the radishes.
How to make air fryer radishes
Start by trimming the radish (the top root and the bottom where it gets very thin) and then cut the radishes in half or quarters depending on the size/thickness.
Add the radish to a large bowl and add the olive oil, salt and dried thyme. Stir well.
Add the radishes to the air fryer basket and turn on 390F for 18 minutes.
While the radishes are cooking, pause the air fryer 1-2 times during cooking to shake the basket to ensure the radishes cook evenly.
Top tips
- Ensure the radishes are the same thickness before cooking. Cut most radishes in half, and large radishes in quarters.
- Toss the radishes with olive oil to ensure the spices stick well. The olive oil coating will also help ensure the radishes get slightly crispy on the outside as they roast in the air fryer.
- Eat the radishes hot out of the air fryer. The longer they sit after cooking, the softer they get (and the outside becomes less crispy).
Other flavors
Instead of using dried thyme and garlic powder to season the radishes, you can change the flavor to fit with any meal you are eating.
Here are some other spice blends you could use (keep the ½ teaspoon of garlic powder as well):
- Cajun – add 1 tablespoon of cajun seasoning
- Taco – add 1 tablespoon of your favorite taco seasoning
- Ranch – add 1 tablespoon dried chives, 1 teaspoon dried parsley and ½ teaspoon dried dill
- Italian – add 1 tablespoon of your favorite italian seasoning
- Greek – add 2 teaspoons italian seasoning and ½ teaspoon dried oregano
- Smoky – add 1 teaspoon smoked paprika, 1/2 tsp chili powder, 1/8 teaspoon ground mustard, pinch cayenne pepper
- Curry – add 1 teaspoon curry powder and ½ teaspoon ground cumin

Common questions
What do air fryer radishes taste like
Air fryer roasted radishes soften as they cook. They have a mild, savory, slightly sweet flavor similar to a roasted potato (but a little waterier). The peppery bite that you expect to find with raw radishes is almost completely eliminated as the radish cooks.
Even if you do not love raw radishes, you should really try them roasted! These air fryer radishes are so good they would even be a great snack with your favorite dipping sauce (like spicy tahini sauce, chimichurri or even pesto).
Do you need to peel radishes before cooking them?
No, radishes do not need to be peeled before roasting in the air fryer. You will want to be sure they are washed though (and that there are no blemishes or brown spots on the radishes).
What if you don’t have an air fryer
If you don’t have an air fryer or want to make a larger batch of roasted radishes at once, you can cook them in the oven instead.
- Preheat the oven to 450F.
- Cut the radish, coat them in olive oil and spices. Add them to a parchment paper or silicone lined baking sheet.
- Roast the radishes in the 450F oven for 30 minutes. Remove from the oven, stir and return to the oven for 5-10 more minutes until roasted.
Storing leftovers
Fridge: Store leftover air fryer radish in a well sealed container for up to 3 days. Reheat the radishes in the air fryer 375F for 3-4 minutes. You can also use leftover air fryer radishes in cold from the fridge in salads the next day.
Substitutions
- Radishes – if you don’t have radish on hand, you can also make air fryer frozen cauliflower (for a low carb side dish) or air fryer baby potatoes.
- Olive oil – you can use avocado oil, melted coconut oil, melted ghee or melted butter in place of the olive oil.
- Spices – if you don’t the dried thyme on hand, you can use any of the other seasonings listed above or simply omit it from the recipe.
