I also wanted to share a recipe for an amazing strawberry banana green smoothie I made the other day. This strawberry banana green smoothie recipe is vegan, low fat, gluten free and paleoish! But more importantly it’s super filling and a great way to get in a serving of veggies!
Why you will love this:
This strawberry banana green smoothie is super easy to make and only takes a few minutes from start to finish! If you are looking for ways to make this even faster each morning, be sure to check out the video below on tips on prepping frozen smoothie packs!
PS my favorite protein powder for smoothies is Nuzest, it doesn’t have any added stevia or sweeteners and it’s very easy to digest, making it perfect if you have a sensitive stomach or digestive issues!
Why do I put chia seeds to my smoothies?
The chia seeds will help thicken the strawberry banana green smoothie, so when I have time, I let the smoothie sit on the counter for a few minutes to thicken even more before enjoying. Another great reason to add chia seeds is that they are a great source of Omega-3 fatty acids! Plus these little seeds are FULL of fiber, which helps you feel full for much longer! If you cannot tolerate chia seeds, you could also use freshly ground flax seeds (store them in the freezer to keep them from spoiling)!
This strawberry banana green smoothie is perfect for breakfast, as a healthy snack or even as a pre or post smoothie before your workout! It’s gluten and dairy free and since it can be prepped ahead of time it’s one of those things you don’t have to think about in the morning.
What Vegetables are good for smoothies
Smoothies are a great way to get in more vegetables and can be a great addition to a fat loss program. However, if you build your smoothie the wrong way, it can wreak havoc on your fat loss goals. The key is to make your smoothies with lots of veggies, protein and just a little bit of fruit.
The best vegetables for smoothies if you don’t love the taste of vegetables are:
These vegetables all have a pretty neutral taste and don’t tend to over-power the protein and fruit together.
How do you make green smoothies for the week
A great way to make your green smoothies in advance is to make individual freezer bags full of your smoothie ingredients already measured out. This way you can store the freezer bag of smoothie ingredients in the freezer for a quick grab and blend breakfast option. This takes a lot of the time you would spend in the morning measuring out of the equation!
