Ingredient spotlight
- Salmon is the star of this recipe – I recommend using skinless salmon for easy prep, but skin-on works too if that’s what you have on hand, just be sure to cook the salmon skin-side up.

Recipe Notes
Tips for success
- Use skinless salmon for best results. If using skin-on salmon, have the skin facing up so it will get crispy as it cooks.
- I recommend using kitchen shears for cutting the salmon quickly.
- For easy clean up and to prevent sticking: Line your air fryer basket with a silicone mat or parchment paper
- Use silicone-tipped tongs or spatula to protect your air fryer’s coating
- Avoid overcrowding the air fryer basket, cook in batches if doubling the recipe (the second batch may cook quicker, check at 5 minutes.
Storing leftovers
- Fridge: in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
- Reheat in the air fryer at 375 for 3-4 minutes or serve cold or at room temperature.
- Freezer: Not recommended

Common questions
Do I need to preheat the air fryer?
This recipe was tested in a Ninja air fryer without preheating, and the salmon bites turned out perfectly crisp and juicy. If your air fryer requires preheating (some do), you may want to check the salmon bites a minute or two earlier, around the 5-minute mark, to avoid overcooking.

Can I use frozen salmon?
Yes! If your salmon is frozen, be sure to remove it from the original vacuum-sealed packaging before defrosting. Transfer it to a zip-top bag and place it in a bowl of cold water. Change the water every 10–15 minutes, and your salmon should be fully thawed in under an hour. Once thawed, pat it dry before cutting into bites.
Pro Tip: Move your salmon to the fridge the night before for easy thawing!
