Time saving tip:You can find already cooked green lentils in most grocery stores in the refrigerated section of the produce department or canned in the same aisle with the rest of the beans. Substitutions:
Green cooked lentils - you can use chickpeas or even roasted cauliflower in place of the green lentils. If you use chickpeas, you will want to boil cooked chickpeas in water with baking soda to help remove the skins. Peel off the skins before adding to the food processor.
Tahini - you can also use almond butter, cashew butter or sunflower seed butter.
Lemon juice - you can also use 1-2 tbsp. apple cider vinegar.
Storage:Store in fridge up to 5 days or freeze for up to 2 months.Homemade Everything Bagel Seasoning:
2 tbsp. white sesame seeds (3 tbsp. if you don't have black sesame seeds)
1 tbsp. black sesame seeds (optional)
1 tbsp. minced dried garlic flakes
1 tbsp. minced dried onion flakes
1 tbsp. poppy seeds
1/2 tbsp.. flaky salt
For the best flavor, toast the sesame seeds, minced dried garlic flakes and dried onion flakes in a dry skillet over medium heat for about 3-4 minutes until the sesame seeds start to brown and the garlic and onion get fragrant. Don't walk away or they could burn.
