Instant Pot Black Beans (2 Ways)
$2.50 recipe/$0.31 serving
Instant Pot Black Beans 2 ways! Cook dried black beans in under an hour (no soaking required for 1 method). Use anywhere you would normally use canned beans! Naturally gluten free, vegan, dairy free and inexpensive!
In a large bowl (big enough to hold 8-12 cups of water) add the black beans and pick through to remove any rocks or debris.
Add 8 cups of water to the beans and allow to soak overnight (8 hours). You can soak on the counter top, no need to cover. However if your house is hot, put them in the fridge to soak so they don't ferment.
After soaking, discard the soaking water and rinse the beans.
Add the soaked beans to the Instant Pot and cover in 5 cups of water.
Cook under high pressure for 10 minutes.
Allow for natural release of pressure.
Drain the water from cooking. Use like the canned version in any recipe. Store in the fridge 3-4 days.
Instant Pot Black Beans No Soaking
Add the dried black beans to the insert for the Instant Pot. Pick through them for rocks or debris.
Rinse the beans quickly with some clean water and discard this water.
Add the rinsed beans back to the Instant Pot and cover with 5 cups of water.
Cook on high pressure for 25 minutes.
Allow the pressure to naturally release.
Drain the water from cooking. Use like the canned version in any recipe. Store in the fridge 3-4 days.
Notes
Note: The instructions for both soaked and no soak black beans will create a pretty soft bean. This is to make them easy to digest. If you would like a firmer black bean, please adjust the recipes as follows:
Soaked: Change cooking time to 8 minutes high pressure.
No soak: Change water from 5 cups to 4 cups. Do not change cooking time.
