My mom deserves to have the best Mother’s Day Ever this year. I plan on creating a heart-felt gift for her with the help of American Greetings One-Stop Shop at Walmart. My mom has been my role model for as long as I can remember. She’s also been my biggest supporter over the years, and I do everything I can to let her know how important she is to me and how much her support over the years has meant to me.
My mom has always been my biggest supporter. Through the years, I’ve always had a reason to look up to her. I can still vividly remember the day when someone told me I was just like my mom, and instead of denying it, I took it as a compliment. After all, I’ve idolized her for as long as I can remember. I still strive to fully embrace her best traits, patience, persistence, kindness, soft spoken but very confident nature she has perfected. Though she has had many chances in my life to nay-say or not be 100% supportive of my decisions, I cannot recall a time where she hasn’t muttered “well if that’s the plan, lets see how you can get there”. When I saw the notepad set from American Greetings, I knew this would be the perfect start to her Best Ever Mother’s Day gift. I can already envision us jotting down our plans for the future, our latest recipe ideas, or the tips and tricks I learn when I cook with her. Heck I might even teach her something this time around! 🙂
Growing up, my mom never tried to squash my dreams or change my mind about things. When I was 7 years old watching Juila Child and PBS cooking shows, she never made question my love of these shows. In fact, she quickly caught wind of my love for cooking and baking as a kid. She always included me in making cookies, lasagna, mashed potatoes, you name it! I still remember the first time she let me make meatballs by myself, I used my hands to squish the seasoning in the meat like I watched her do so many times before.
My favorite past time with my mom though was always making chocolate chip cookies on the weekend. We used the recipe right off the Tollhouse package, and they were always so good! There is no telling how many batches of chocolate chip cookies we made together before I was 10. Needless to say, chocolate chip cookies will always remind me of our time together. So I decided this year, I would make my mom a batch of healthy chocolate chip cookies that we could enjoy together while catching up on her special day.
This year Dave and I started PancakeWarriors while on vacation with my parents at the beach. Unsure of how my parents would react, Dave wasn’t sure if we should tell them about our new-found business venture. But I knew better, after all my mom is my biggest supporter! She immediately had me whip up a batch of our signature pancakes and was happy to grammatically change our first post. Her support this year has been invaluable. Every time I see her, she tells me about everyone she’s shared my website with. I don’t even know how to repay her for her support, but I know she loves a good greeting card, and I was lucky enough to find one that perfectly describes how I feel about my mom. First of all, it’s ridiculously huge, which is a plus for me (I’m always trying to one up my sister) and second the message is simply perfection. If you want to know what the card says, go check out the American Greetings section at your local Walmart or check back with me on Intagram this Mother’s Day. After all, my mom does read my blog 🙂 And yes I still call her mommy, and run almost every decision of my life by her, and if it were up to me I would always be her little girl that fit on her lap and could snuggle into her on the couch watching tv.
I plan on making my mom feel like the best mom ever this Mother’s Day with a few thoughtful gifts, some chocolate chip cookies, and a whole bunch of time chatting about good memories and what the future may hold. If I’m lucky maybe she’ll even catch on to how much she means to me.
