Spring is right around the corner, it’s time to find your fitness grove, with these at home workouts! The cherry trees have officially started blooming and I have even been able to wear short sleeves! I realize how close summer is, and how quickly it will be before summer is here!
Does this make you nervous? Short sleeves and shorts and oh lets not even think about bikinis yet! But I am a look on the bright side kind of girl! I take spring as a time to not only clean out my closets and home, but also an opportunity to refresh my new years intentions of healthy eating and exercise!
I recently installed foam flooring (affiliate link) in my spare bedroom, so that I can start doing more at home workouts, from yoga to HIIT to weight training. My schedule has gotten even crazier lately and I am finding it difficult to get my lunch workouts in. Over the past few months, I have been alternating between my Treadmill HIIT workout and my Sweaty Elliptical Workout for cardio since the gym I attend at night is not ideal for my traditional HIIT workouts.
I’m taking spring time to create a new routine! What about you? Would you workout from home if you had the option? What if these were home workouts specifically designed for the home? Well if you are considering it, check out our guide to weight training in our Beginners Series. You will find recommendations for building a home gym, as well as exercises you can perform at home with resistance bands or dumbbells. This beginners series is the perfect way to start building muscle at home! Remember muscle helps ignite metabolism and blast fat throughout the day! Muscle also takes up less space than fat, so you will start looking thinner, even if you are not “losing weight” according to the scale!
Want to burn more calories and further your fat loss? Get moving with cardio! Cardio does not always have to be crazy intense! Take a long walk with your spouse or a friend, catch up on the day and enjoy the weather! If you are looking for something more intense, find a hill to walk up, or pump your arms and pick up the pace while walking! The point here is to just move! Stuck inside from April Showers, no worries, try this Cardio Blast workout for beginners or this great beginner HIIT workout or you can really feel the burn with this Booty Burner! Getting your body used to physical exercise again will help make the transition into more intense exercise easier! Once you are ready to take the plunge, check out these awesome 15-20 minute High Intensity Workouts.
With your new exercise routine, you may also want to find a way to incorporate yoga. You can also practice gentle yoga or a more intense vinyasa flow class (if you are new to yoga, check out my tips on What to Expect at Yoga) to stretch those muscles out.
As far as my eating is concerned, I’m focusing on eating more whole foods, drinking more water, and trying to recognize more of my hunger cues instead of just relying on the time of day to prompt me to eat. Overall I think that this new outlook will help me feel better not only physically, but mentally as well! I hope this helped you with finding fitness at home!
